1. The original Diesel line-up that recorded "Sausalito Summernight" was: Mark Boon (guitar/vocals), Rob Vunderink (guitar/vocals), Pim Koopman (drums/producer) and Frank Papendrecht (bass/vocals). The line-up that toured the States and Canada in 1981 was: Mark, Rob, Wijnand Ott (bass), Bas Krumperman (guitar/vocals) and Kim Weemhof (drums). The last line-up that split up in 1989 was Pim, Rob, André Versluijs and Jeroen Englebert. For a full insight into all line-up changes see the Diesel history page.
2. Diesel came from the Netherlands. Mark and Frank came from The Hague, Rob from Nijmegen and Pim from Hilversum. Diesel was never really based in one Dutch city.
3. Diesel released two albums and four non-album singles. For a full Dutch discography see the Diesel discography page.
4. Full chart details are not available yet, but "Sausalito Summernight" reached number 25 in the Billboard Hot 100. The record went to number 1 in Canada. Strangely enough "Sausalito Summernight" was only a minor hit in the Netherlands. The song hit the chart on October 18, 1980 and got to number 35. The first single "Goin' back to China" entered the Veronica Top 40 on June 9, 1979 and got to 28. "Down in the silvermine" followed on February 23, 1980 and got to 28 as well. The last Diesel single to hit the chart was "Samantha", that entered on July 30, 1988 and got as high as 33. The other singles did not chart. Any additional information is heartily welcomed.
5. Most band members are still playing, albeit for fun. Mark Boon, Kim Weenhof and Ronald Oor are still professional musicians and Pim Koopman is a succesful songwriter/producer. Check out the Diesel news page regularly (it's updated monthly) for touring information and record releases by former members.
6. Watts in a Tank was rereleased on CD in the summer of 2000.
